Chris Barber BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP

Since graduating from King's College London in 1996 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Chris has embarked on a successful career encompassing working in London teaching hospitals, occupational health and private practice. In 1999 Chris established his first private practice in Dulwich and over the years the business has gone from strength to strength. In 2000 Chris was appointed Head Physiotherapist at Blackheath Rugby Club where he has helped the Club achieve their current position in National League 1. Chris then established a second private practice within the facilities at Blackheath.

Recognising the need for evidenced based, effective and affordable physiotherapy Chris incorporated Advanced Physiotherapy Centres Ltd in 2005. Since then the business has acquired three more sites helping achieve Chris' goal of defining the way that 21st century musculoskeletal physiotherapy should be delivered. Chris has developed and refined the APC Ltd injury management protocols to ensure consistency of approach and service levels between our practitioners. Chris has also developed injury prevention, screening and rehabilitation protocols for our associate personal trainers at The Better Body Shop ensuring clients are able to exercise safely at optimal levels.

Chris has completed post-graduate qualifications in musculoskeletal acupuncture (including the world-renowned Gunn-IMS technique) and he enjoys nothing more than the challenge of fixing patients who have failed treatment elsewhere.

Chris is married to Jo and together they have three boys. Chris is a former rugby player and can now be found spending his spare time playing golf (badly), running and cycling.

Maria graduated from Brighton University in 2003 and works from our Bromley Centre. Maria joined APC ltd in 2005 and has been instrumental in developing our back and neck injury management protocols. Maria is a Gunn-IMS qualified acupuncturist and has a special clinical interest in work related musculoskeletal disorders and injury prevention. Maria is also our work-station / ergonomic assessment specialist.

Maria enjoys keeping fit, is a keen snow boarder and has worked for Bromley FC so she also has extensive experience in the management of sports injuries.

Laura Partridge BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy

Laura graduated with first class honors from Oxford Brookes University in 2005. She went on to work at several NHS Trusts including Kings College Hospital before joining APC Ltd in 2009. Laura is acupuncture qualified and holds the distinction of having a scientific acupuncture case study published. Laura has worked at multiple marathon and endurance events and assists with England Netball Training. Laura is Pilates trained and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Sports & Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary's University. Laura has participated in various competitive sports since her teens and still plays netball and squash. Laura is always found travelling everywhere by bicycle and enjoys regular international mountain climbing trips.

Chris Boyles

Chris graduated from Auckland Institute of Technology in 1995 with a BHSc (Physiotherapy). Chris worked in private practice in his native New Zealand and was the head of physiotherapy for the West Coast Rugby Union, before coming to the UK in 1997. Since this time he has been employed in a variety of NHS posts before starting out in private practice in 2007. Whilst working in the NHS, Chris has gained extensive experience in the teaching of physiotherapy students and qualified members of staff. Prior to devoting his time to full time private practice in 2008, Chris held one of the highest clinical posts within West Kent PCT.

Chris has a particular clinical interest in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries. He has a strong back ground in Rugby union and uses his knowledge in this area to develop an individualized approach to a patient's rehabilitation. Other clinical interests include the treatment and assessment of shoulder complaints, especially those patients with atraumatic instability. In 2005, Chris completed his MSc at UCL in advanced Physiotherapeutic practice. Chris is a member of the Manipulative Association of Charted Physiotherapists (MACP), Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM), and also performs acupuncture treatments.

Chris has studied Okinawan Karate to Black belt level and has competed in various kickboxing tournaments. Having grown up in New Zealand Chris has also been involved in Rugby, kayaking, running, cycling and rock climbing. His present sporting pursuits include fencing and basketball.

Administrative Staff

Kelly Lant

Kelly works part time in our Head Office in Kings Hill. Kelly joined the company in 2007 and in September 2009 gave birth to twin boys, she re-joined the company in July 2010. Her spare time is taken up looking after her new family, running a beaver scout colony and occasionally managing to get in some swimming, walking and reading, but mainly trying to catch up on sleep!

Lauren Unwin

Lauren works full time in our head office in King's Hill. Lauren joined the company in 2009 and was thrown in at the deep end to cover Kelly's maternity leave. Lauren is a spin fanatic who has recently found a love for running and taking part in sponsored runs.
